I Know What I Want.

I’ve been known to be indecisive at times.  Mostly when I don’t really care about the outcome or the event such as:

Husband:  “Where do you want to go out to eat?” 

Me:  “Oh, I don’t care.  You pick." 

Sound familiar--to anyone else?

However, there are times I feel very strongly about things like--directions.

Me:  “Turn left here.  It’s shorter and there is one less traffic light.”  

The car goes straight.   

Me:  “Why didn’t you turn?  You just added 45 seconds to our trip!”  (Yeah!  A little window into life with me—so much fun.)

For the most part, when my mind is made up and I know what I want…get out of the way.  That’s what happened when, at the age of fourteen, I realized God had something more available to me.  It was a gift that is available to all Believers.  

The Lord filled me up with his Holy Spirit at salvation but there was more and I wanted it.   The Spirit that dwells within me was waiting for the opportunity to overflow!   I wanted this experience and asked the Lord to immerse me in His Spirit…and He did!  I got it!  


“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them.”   Acts 2:4 (NET Bible) 

This week, if you have not made the decision to immerse yourself in His Spirit you can do it now.  You can ask the Lord to fill you to overflowing.  The Holy Spirit wants to partner with every Believer to empower them, give them a prayer language and direct them on paths of righteousness.  Receive it—it’s His gift to YOU!

A Bright Light

We have an electrical problem at our house.  If the TV, fireplace and garage lights are all on at the same time, and then I try to blow dry my hair--it's not gonna work.  When this happens, I have to go out to the cold dark garage to find the breaker box.  There have been a few times when I actually went out into the darkness and kept moving in the general direction of the breaker box when I realized, I can't see anything. I'd return to the house and look for my phone to use it as a flashlight.  Once I was in the light, I could find the breaker box and get the lights back on. In Isaiah 9:2, there is an announcement in scripture that a bright light is coming and that  light will shine on all people giving them a way out of the darkness.  The coming of that bright light is what the  story of Christmas is all about.
